YourEMR - Family-controlled emergency information organizer

How it works

How YourEMR works

YourEMR helps you organize important emergency information first. QR or link sharing is available only if you choose to use it.

Paper vs YourEMR

Paper is a strong backup. YourEMR goes further.

A printed emergency sheet can be valuable at home, in a caregiver binder, in a go-bag, at school, or while traveling. YourEMR provides free paper resources because families should have a physical backup. Paper and YourEMR work best as complementary tools.

What mattersPaper emergency systemYourEMR
Works during outagesWorks without a phone, internet connection, or power.A fresh YourEMR printout can serve as the physical backup. Digital access depends on device battery, connectivity, and availability. Planned companion apps may add an offline emergency view with an on-screen QR code when the phone is charged.
Availability away from the binderMust be physically nearby. Can make emergency information available when the physical binder is elsewhere.
Updating informationEvery distributed copy must be separately corrected or replaced.Allows information to be maintained in one profile and reprinted when details change.
Old copiesOld copies can remain in homes, bags, wallets, schools, or caregiver packets. An emergency link or QR code can open the current saved emergency view.
SharingMust be physically handed to each family member or caregiver. Can make selected information easier to share with appropriate family members or caregivers.
Visibility controlsOnce handed out, the visible information is whatever was printed on that copy.Allows the user to control which information appears in the emergency view.
Supporting documentsCan point to originals and hold copies that trusted helpers know how to find.Supports saving document scans inside a profile for review and reference.
Access awarenessCannot provide awareness that the information was viewed.Planned: connected loved ones may be able to receive an alert when an emergency QR profile is opened.
Best roleRemains a dependable physical backup. Is intended to complement, not eliminate, a physical backup.

Our recommendation: use both.

A printed emergency face sheet provides a physical backup while YourEMR can help keep information current, available, and easier to share.
